Yumi's Cells 3 Ending Explained: Does Yumi Marry Soonrok?

by finditnote 2026. 8. 10.

Yumi's Cells 3 finally gives Yumi the happy ending her long journey has been building toward.

After her relationships with Woong and Babi, Yumi meets her new publishing editor, Shin Soonrok, falls in love again, and eventually marries him.

So yes — Soonrok is Yumi's final love.

SPOILER WARNING: Major spoilers for Yumi's Cells Season 3 below.

Q1. Who Does Yumi End Up With in Yumi's Cells 3?

Yumi ends up with Shin Soonrok.

Soonrok is Yumi's new publishing editor after she becomes a successful writer. They clash at first, but their relationship gradually changes from irritation to attraction and then romance.

He becomes Yumi's final partner.

Q2. Do Yumi and Soonrok Get Married?

Yes. Yumi and Soonrok get married.

Their relationship develops quickly during Season 3, but the drama clearly confirms that they become a couple and eventually marry.

For viewers who have followed Yumi since Season 1, it is a definite happy ending.

Q3. Is Soonrok Yumi's Final Boyfriend?

Yes.

Yumi previously had major relationships with Goo Woong and Yoo Babi, but neither relationship lasted.

Season 3 introduces Soonrok as the person Yumi ultimately chooses to spend her future with.

In that sense, Soonrok completes the romantic journey that began in Season 1.

Q4. Why Does Yumi Fall in Love With Soonrok?

At first, Yumi does not like Soonrok at all.

He is strict, overly logical, and sometimes inconsiderate. One memorable example is when he buys almost all of the limited strawberry cream bungeoppang without leaving one for Yumi.

The turning point comes when Yumi sees a completely different side of him.

When Soonrok takes off his glasses and appears in a much more casual and relaxed way, Yumi suddenly starts seeing him as a man rather than just her annoying editor.

From there, she begins noticing his softer and more affectionate personality. As they spend more time together, their initial dislike slowly turns into attraction.

Personally, I thought the change happened a little too quickly. His behavior earlier in the story annoyed me so much that I needed more time to understand why Yumi suddenly became attracted to him.

But once their feelings became mutual, I really enjoyed watching their romance develop.

Q5. Does Yumi's Cells 3 Have a Happy Ending?

Yes, definitely.

Yumi becomes successful in her career, finds love again, and marries Soonrok.

There is no tragic twist at the end.

After all the heartbreak and emotional confusion Yumi experienced in the earlier seasons, Season 3 gives her both career success and romantic happiness.

Q6. How Many Episodes Are in Yumi's Cells 3?

Yumi's Cells 3 has 8 episodes.

And this was probably my biggest disappointment.

Seasons 1 and 2 had much more time to build Yumi's relationships, while Season 3 feels extremely fast.

It almost feels like:

Meet Soonrok → fall in love → start dating → get married.

The ending itself is satisfying.

I just wanted more time to enjoy Yumi and Soonrok as a couple before the story reached marriage.

Q7. Is Yumi's Cells 3 the Final Season?

Season 3 works as the conclusion to Yumi's long story.

Her journey began with Woong, continued through Babi, and eventually reaches its final romantic destination with Soonrok.

That is why the marriage ending feels like more than Yumi simply finding another boyfriend.

It feels like the conclusion of Yumi's growth as a person.

Q8. Is Yumi's Cells 3 Based on a Webtoon?

Yes.

Yumi's Cells is based on the Korean webtoon by Donggeon Lee, and there is also an official English version available on WEBTOON.

If the short final season left you wanting more time with Yumi's story, the original webtoon is worth checking out.

Quick Review

Yumi's Cells 3 was still cute, funny, and emotional, but eight episodes felt too short for the final season.

I had a hard time liking Soonrok at first because his personality felt too cold and rigid.

The strawberry cream bungeoppang incident did not help either. Taking almost all of the limited snacks without giving Yumi even one was honestly difficult to forgive. 😂

But once Yumi started seeing a different side of him, the romance became much more enjoyable.

The series still does a great job of turning small romantic moments into something exciting through Yumi's cells.

My biggest complaint is simply that everything happened too quickly.

After spending so much time with Woong and Babi in the earlier seasons, I wanted more time to understand Soonrok and watch his relationship with Yumi grow before they reached the marriage ending.

Still, after following Yumi for years, seeing her finally get a happy ending felt satisfying.

Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5)

Why Yumi's Ending Feels Different This Time

The most important part of Yumi's Cells was never simply deciding which boyfriend Yumi should choose.

Woong, Babi, and Soonrok are all important parts of her story, but Yumi has always been the real main character.

Over the seasons, she falls in love, gets hurt, breaks up, changes careers, becomes a successful writer, and learns more about herself.

By Season 3, Yumi has already built a life of her own before Soonrok becomes part of it.

That is why the ending works despite the rushed romance.

Yumi does not get a happy ending simply because she finds the right man.

She builds her own life first — and then finds someone she wants to share it with.
